FAQ PAGE

What types of training programs do you offer at the shelter?

We offer basic obedience, puppy socialization, behavior modification, and specialized training for service and therapy dogs.

How do I adopt a pet from the shelter?

Visit the shelter’s “Adopt” page to view available pets. Submit an adoption application, and they will contact you to schedule a meet-and-greet and home check. If needed give the shelter a call to inquire about the pet.

What are the adoption fees and what do they cover?

Adoption fees range by species and age. Fees cover spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and a basic health exam.

Can I foster an animal before adopting?

A lot of shelters normally allow fostering before adoption. A foster program allows you to provide temporary care while deciding if adoption is right for you—and it can free up shelter space for others in need. It would be best to contact the specific shelter in mind and ask as some places have different policies.

What kind of donations do you accept?

We accept monetary donations as well as supplies like pet food, toys, blankets, cleaning products, and leashes. See our “Wish List” for details. Everything donated goes to shelters in need and assisting in the growth of the NAWCTC.

What should I do if I find a stray animal?

Safely contain the animal if possible and call your local animal control or a near by vet office. They can scan for a microchip and attempt to locate the owner. Keep track of where you found it and any identifying items with the animal.

How do I report animal cruelty or neglect?

Report suspected cruelty to your local animal control or humane law enforcement. Check out their website too for more information on your local laws.

Can I tour an animal shelter or bring a group for a visit?

Yes, most shelters offer tours by appointment for schools, scouts, and community groups. Contact us to schedule.
